As many of you know by now, Problem Gambling Awareness Week is March 7-13, 2010. The Alpert Jewish Family & Children's Service is committed to furthering outreach and providing education on the growing issue of problem gambling that is impacting South Florida and our country as a whole.

AJFCS plans to do the following during the PGAW Week:

-On March 10th, AJFCS will be partnering to host a community presentation and day of health at the Park Pointe community in Lake Worth Florida. AJFCS will set up an FCCG partner table and have social workers on hand to answer any gambling related questions or concerns. All attendees will receive problem gamgling awareness material. Also, we are in works to hopefully have a gambling related presentation during the March 10th event at Park Pointe.

-AJFCS will be heavily promoting the PGAW through its digital and social media channels in order to reach over 18,000 members of the community including Physicians, Attorneys, Healthcare Professionals, Consumers, and the family as a whole.

-The client waiting room at AJFCS will be "made-over" to heavily promote problem gambling awareness week. Information of all sorts will be on site, and the waiting room television will be playing dvd-based educational/awareness messaging from the FCCG.

It is our hope that we can proudly represent the FCCG during this dedicated week and truly make an impact in regard to outreach, awareness, prevention, and treatment.

We plan on doing many more things, and hope to have a strong community response.
