The FCCG has prepared video presentations as part of its ongoing population specific programming and/or as stand alone informational productions.
FCCG video presentations are original, realistic, and geared toward particular populations. In some cases, the Agency has prepared accompanying lesson plans.
Videos are available by calling the FCCG HelpLine (888-ADMIT-IT) or by placing requests via email. The following list provides a brief description of the videos.
ADOLESCENTS
Deception (Docudrama) - Explores the lives of two lifelong high school buddies, while one watches the other progress deep into compulsive gambling (length 29:43).
Underage Gambling….It's Not a Game – Introductory video to the FCCG's PTA Toolkit, featuring background information, stories of persons in recovery, and field experts.
Are You Gambling with Your Life? (Available to DJJ personnel and others servicing high-risk adolescents.) - An interactive CD that includes videos, this life skills training program assists Florida Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) personnel, educators, facilitators, counselors, psychologists and other professionals in providing essential information about the dangers and consequences of gambling to high risk youth incarcerated in DJJ facilities or outside the DJJ system. (Note: This FCCG/DJJ joint program is not intended for mainstream youth or the public school system. It is “Language Sensitive” and depicts scenes and scripts based upon actual focus group input within Florida 's DJJ detention population.)
ADULT AND GENERAL POPULATION
Dealing with Addiction (Available to Mental Health and Addiction Professionals) - Highlights the link and prevalence of problem gambling with alcohol and substance abuse, and features recovering persons cross-addicted, as well as clinicians in the field. Video use intended for client waiting rooms or during individual and group settings (length 15:00).
Las Caras del Problema de Juego - A Spanish speaking docudrama depicts realistic scenarios about individuals whose impacts from gambling are shown from various cultural perspectives within the Latino/Hispanic community (length 10:00).
OLDER ADULTS
The Road Back (Docudrama) - Examines the effects of compulsive gambling in a longtime marriage where the husband's onset of gambling upon retirement has impacted his relationship with his spouse, family members, and friends (length 27:50).
Senior Documentary - Information recorded by treatment professionals in the field, as well as personal stories of recovering older adult gamblers (length 27:24).
MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS (Available to physicians and health care facilities)
Diagnosis: Pathological Gambling - An introductory video to the FCCG's first aid toolkit for physicians demonstrates the importance of screening medical patients for problem gambling as part of a routine diagnostic assessment (length 10:00).
