The FCCG serves as Florida's clearinghouse on gambling addiction, sponsors training and educational forums, and completes research on gambling issues.
Every day there is an influx of information surfacing about gambling and problem gambling, much of which is difficult to decipher, in particular for those first entering the field. In an effort to streamline facts and meaningful information and distribute to mainstream, as well as specialized populations, the FCCG reviews and compiles research in its effort to devise innovative programs and strategies in the areas of problem gambling prevention, education and treatment. The Agency sponsors and conducts training of all kinds, and is consistently conducting educational presentations and other forums across the state raising awareness among those young and older, and to service providers.

PROBLEM GAMBLING AWARENESS WEEK 2010
The week of March 7 - 13, 2010 is proclaimed to be Problem Gambling Awareness Week (PGAW) for the State of Florida. The Florida Council on Compulsive Gambling will join forces with the Governor and organizations across the state, to raise public awareness about the effects of pathological (commonly referred to as compulsive) gambling, and spread the message of hope that gambling addiction is treatable for those who seek help. The theme for this year’s PGAW is Shining the Light on Problem Gambling with a focus on the impact compulsive gambling has on the family. Each problem gambler directly affects 8-10 individuals with negative consequences to personal and social relationships of the immediate family to include physical violence, emotional abuse and neglect. The PGAW awareness campaign provides an opportunity to educate the public, policymakers, educators, businesses, mental health, and criminal justice professionals, and others, about the adverse effects of gambling as well as available treatment.
