Problem Gambling Awareness Month

Post by Administrator » Mon Mar 10, 2014 8:18 am

The FCCG is proud to be a supporter of National Problem Gambling Awareness Month (PGAM). This grassroots campaign is designed to educate people about problem gambling and help them avoid possible pitfalls which can lead to devastating consequences in their lives. Nearly 90% of Floridians have participated in some form of gambling at one time or another. For most it is a harmless activity but for some, it can lead to financial problems, relationship woes, work related difficulties and serious mental and emotional problems. Fortunately, problem and compulsive gambling is a treatable addiction.

This year, the focus has been put on Internet gambling. There are thousands of online gaming websites just a click away from anyone that owns a computer or smart phone. What makes these sites so dangerous is how easily accessible they are to people of all ages. Further, if gamblers access these sites from work it can have a negative affect on profits and productivity within the workplace. With little or no security, it can be especially harmful to underage individuals as well. Please join the FCCG in recognizing and supporting PGAM by visiting www.gamblinghelp.org and spreading the word about compulsive gambling.
