While the FCCG’s helpline specialists are all expertly trained to handle contacts from anyone reaching out for assistance, their primary function is to serve as information and referral specialists. The Peer Connect Program offers gamblers and loved ones a chance to speak to someone who is in recovery for a more personal conversation. This resource is offered to callers for a variety of reasons. It could be that the caller is fearful, ashamed or embarrassed about attending a group meeting or seeking counseling, Maybe they are curious to learn about the inner workings of a Gamblers Anonymous meeting and how sponsorship and a pressure relief group meeting works. They may feel more relaxed in knowing that they are not alone in their troubles and that recovery is possible even though they don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel yet. The opportunity to hear the personal experiences of someone who is in recovery can have a powerful effect on callers. Peer operators can inspire and motivate the person to take the next step by offering hope through knowledge and wisdom. The Peer Connect Program is designed to help gamblers and loved ones understand that although things might be difficult at the moment, there are many others just like them that have found help and hope through recovery.

The FCCG is here to offer that help! If you or someone you know has a problem, call the 24-hour, bilingual, confidential 1-888-ADMIT-IT HelpLine
